Chemical Engineering is that branch of engineering which is involved in the design
and maintenance of chemical plants and the development of chemical processes for
converting raw materials or chemicals into valuable forms which enable large-scale
manufacture. It combines knowledge of chemistry, physics, biology, microbiology,
biochemistry, mathematics along with Engineering for the production of chemicals
by the products. Chemical Engineers are the most versatile of all engineers, which
involves the invention, development, design, operation and management of processes
in industries.
The department of chemical engineering was established in year of 1997. The department
offers diploma program with an annual intake of 20 students. The main focus of the
department is to impart quality education, technical knowledge and technology to
students with an intension of developing their personality skills and also knowledge
and make them to face challenges in technical field of chemical and allied industries.
The department is well equipped with laboratories, class rooms, computing facilities
and independent library. Chemical Engineering Students’ seminar (CHESS) periodically
arranges seminars, guest lectures, workshops, symposia etc for various developments
of students. Students will undergo practical sessions in all labs during the program
and will get chance to undergo inplant training in related industries through Human
resource department.
